Bright pink pout with Sephora

Hello everyone,

I did mention a little while ago that I placed an order with Sephora. My reasoning being that if I had to pay for the freight I might as well order a lot of things, I went a tiny bit crazy with the virtual basket and ended up with quite a few lip products (among other things). When they arrived, I was very happy with the sleek packaging of the lipstick, and although the lip pencils are on the small side I find their format to be perfect for me. I got a red duo, but today it is the pink one that I am going to tell you about.

The Candid Candy lipliner is a soft nude liner. I used it to line my lips and fill them in (as my lips are naturally quite dark, I sometimes have to put either a primer or a nude colour before putting on lipstick if I want it to look nice). It is soft and creamy, does not drag the lips and has quite a good colour pay-off.

The lipstick itself is in shade Psychedelic Pink, which is a metallic baby pink. Marketed as a long lasting, its pigments are combined with a fixating agent, it is supposed to be a high-coverage lipstick, lasting approximately 10 or 6 hours (according to the website it is 10 hours for matte and semi-matte range, and 6 hours for the metallics) and keeping your lips comfortable. From a packaging point of view, the lipstick is definitely a hit: it is a shiny black tube with Sephora written in bold silver letters around the cap. The top of the cap is the same colour as the lipstick inside, which is a great way to locate the right one it in your make-up stash if you happen to have several of them!

The lipstick itself is a great bright pink, almost neon. It is high coverage indeed and easy to apply straight from the bullet. Upon application, it does not highlight dry areas and feels quite creamy. Now, it is a long lasting lipstick so if you do not wear a lipbalm underneath it will most definitely dry your lips out pretty quickly, and not feel comfortable. I had to reapply it before the 6 hours mark, but as I drink a lot of coffee (and smoke. Yes I know but I am trying to stop) it is not surprising.

There are a lot of colours in this range (I also bought the Pure Red lipstick, a matte red that I am very much looking forward to try), and the prices are not too high: 4.90 euros for the lipliner, and 11.90 euros for the lipstick.

My main gripe with Sephora is that as they are not open in Ireland (fingers crossed it will change one day), we cannot see the colours by ourselves. I have been lucky with the products I have picked but I have heard people complaining about the swatches on the website, saying that for a few products they are quite far from the true colours. I think I will keep going to Sephora when I am abroad (it is after all one of my traditions, and my poor housemate hates me for it as every single time I end up dragging him to the nearest Sephora and spend an hour oohing and cooing over their products) and if needed use their website for repeat orders of products I already own and like.

What is your opinion on Sephora? Would you go as crazy as I would if one opened in Ireland?
